CTC Unveils Plans for Express Bus Route in Amelia

Batavia, Ohio.  Clermont Transportation Connection (CTC) is preparing to launch a new express route between Amelia and downtown Cincinnati in late summer.  This service will replace Route 75X currently operated by Queen City Metro.

“We’ve ordered five new buses to transport people from at least 30 bus stops along SR125 in Amelia to four downtown locations, including Government Square,” said CTC Director Ben Capelle.  “The 24 passenger buses will begin picking up passengers at 5:30 in the morning and no reservations are necessary.  We anticipate ridership of around 28,000 people a year on this route.”

“CTC would really like input from the public as we create this service.  We want to provide the best service we can with the money we have, and we feel this is the best solution.” Said Capelle  Even though the route will have fewer times to choose from, CTC hopes passengers will not be upset, because the route will no longer go through Anderson, and should save the average passenger at least 20 minutes.

“Many citizens living in the Amelia area rely on public transportation and I am very excited that we will be able to provide better service and do so at a cost savings to the county,” said Clermont Commissioner Bob Proud.  The current METRO route costs $15.62 per person, round trip in addition to the fare passengers pay when they board the bus.  CTC will be able to operate the service for $10.86 per person round trip, which will result in a savings of roughly $68,000 annually.

“With gas prices on the rise, CTC can provide a real savings to citizens,” said Capelle.  “A weekly pass (5 round trip rides) will cost $25, with reduced rates for seniors, people with disabilities, students, and children.  One way fares are also available.”  CTC recently ordered five new 24 passenger buses at a cost of $107,000 each to operate this new express service.

Additional information about the bus route will be available at a public meeting on March 31, 6:30 p.m., at the Amelia Public Library, located at 58 Maple Street in Amelia.  You can also call CTC at (513) 732-7433 or go to Route 4X Amelia Express
