CTC Announces Start Date for Route 3

The Clermont Transportation Connection (CTC) will launch a new type of shuttle service in Clermont County beginning Monday, March 23, 2009; the new Route 3 service will provide bus service between Goshen, Miami Township, and Milford.  “This new service is a first for CTC,” said CTC Director Ben Capelle.  “Instead of our Dial-a-Ride door-to-door service, the new route will have fixed stops and pick-up times that run from morning through evening rush hour, Monday through Friday.”

Capelle says that requests for Dial-a-Ride services are at an all time high, but it is expensive to operate; CTC spends roughly $25.69 per trip on the Dial-a-Ride door-to-door service that requires citizens to call in advance to schedule a ride.  “Bus routes, such as the new Route 3 service, are much cheaper to operate, because many people can get on the bus at the same time,” said Capelle.  “Also, because there are set pick-up times, people do not have to schedule a ride in advance; they can just show up at the bus stop and enjoy the ride.”

The new Route 3 service will run from Wood and Main Street in Goshen, along Route 28, Main Street in Milford, Milford Parkway, Rt. 50, and to the Park 50 TechneCenter in Miami Township.  It will provide transportation to work, shopping, and medical appointments.  Fares for the new route will be $2 for adults and $1 for seniors, those with disabilities, and children.

“We will continue to offer our Dial-a-Ride service in that area, but we think many will decide to take the new Route 3 bus because of convenience and the set schedule,” said Capelle.  “CTC also has a half-price transfer agreement with Metro, which allows passengers to transfer between Metro and CTC at a reduced fare.”

Signs for the new bus stops are being installed.  For more information about the new CTC Route 3 service, call (513) 732-7433, Extension 2
